Lodging accommodations: We have arranged for a limited group room block at the Melville at a guaranteed discounted rate. Unfortunately, however, we learned that the typically high hotel occupancy and room rates in the greater NY market have been rising and are particularly high for our reunion weekend, not only because of June weddings, but because of the Belmont stakes. Accordingly, the best rate we could get from the Marriott was $249 per night (discounted from $300 or more for our reunion weekend). But for those who prefer less expensive (but nevertheless highly rated) accommodations, we succeeded in arranging for another limited group room block at the substantially lower guaranteed discounted rate of $170 per night at the Holiday Inn Plainview, 215 Sunnyside Blvd., Plainview, NY 11803, which is less than 3 miles away, near exit 46 on I-495 (the LIE).
Both room blocks are limited and if not used up by that time, will expire on May 6th, 2020. After that, there is no telling what rooms will be available or at what price or what quality.
A third, less expensive, budget-priced alternative that has good customer reviews and that may have rooms available if you book early enough is the Whitman Motor Lodge, 295 E. Jericho Turnpike (just east of Rte 110), Huntington Station, NY 11746. (We do not have a room block set aside at this property.)
So since rooms may likely become more expensive (or even unavailable) after the room blocks are used up or expire, and since hotel room reservations are generally cancellable up to 24 or 48 hours in advance, depending on the hotel — check your reservation confirmation), time is of the essence! Accordingly, we strongly recommend that you make your reservation as early as you can — even if you are not sure if you will be attending our reunion.
Reunion registration: Your early registration for our reunion helps us plan for the probable attendance level and will make sure we have all your most current contact information ("snailmail," e-mail and telephone) so you receive all future reunion and other class communications and so we can continue to help our classmates find each other. So once again, even if you are undecided about attending — or do not plan to attend — our eighth (and probably our last) fabulous class reunion, please register with Reunions Unlimited, Inc. as soon as possible.
To register for our reunion, visit www.reunions-unlimited.com, scroll down to where it says, “Register for Your Reunion,” at the lower left, and follow the prompts. If done before May, no payment will be required at the time of registration (see "Reunion cost and payment" below).
Reunion cost and payment: The reunion will be priced at $95 per person, including a complete sit-down dinner with three choices of entrées, and there will be a cash bar. If at the time of your registration, you indicate possible interest in attending, you will be asked by Reunions Unlimited, Inc. by the beginning of March for payment, and you will have until the beginning of May to pay without penalty. After that, the cost will be $105 per person. If paid reservations are cancelled by May 22nd, you will be entitled to a 50% refund.
And watch for future announcements of reunion details from Reunions Unlimited, Inc., or from us, in your "snailmail," in your e-mail inbox or in this space.
